A 9-day primate adventure through Uganda's finest national parks — gorilla trekking in Bwindi, chimpanzee tracking in Kibale, and game drives at Murchison Falls.

Uganda offers some of the world's most intimate and moving wildlife encounters. This 9-day journey combines three of the country's finest experiences: the awe-inspiring gorilla trek in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, chimpanzee tracking in the chimp capital of Kibale Forest, and a Nile boat cruise at the foot of the spectacular Murchison Falls.

Each day brings a different landscape and encounter — from the cool, mist-draped montane forests of the southwest to the warm, papyrus-lined Nile of the north. Uganda surprises, inspires, and stays with you.

Arrive Entebbe

Stay: Imperial Resort Beach Hotel

Arrival at Entebbe International Airport. Transfer to your lakeside hotel overlooking Lake Victoria. Welcome briefing over dinner.

Entebbe to Kibale Forest

Stay: Primate Lodge Kibale

Drive southwest to Kibale National Park (approx. 5 hours), stopping at the Equator for photos. Afternoon walk in the forest to orientate and spot some of the park's 13 primate species.

Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale

Stay: Primate Lodge Kibale

Morning chimpanzee tracking through Kibale Forest — home to over 1,500 chimpanzees and the highest concentration of primates in Africa. Spend an hour with a habituated chimp community. Afternoon nature walk in the forest.

Kibale to Bwindi

Drive through the beautiful tea estates of the Uganda's southwest highlands to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Afternoon walk in the forest and briefing on tomorrow's gorilla trek.

Gorilla Trekking Day

Stay: Buhoma Lodge

The highlight of the journey. Early morning briefing at the park headquarters, then set out with armed rangers into the ancient forest to track a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek can take between 2 and 8 hours depending on the gorillas' movements — but the reward is an hour in the presence of these extraordinary, ancient beings.

Batwa Community Experience & Departure North

Stay: Papaya Lake Lodge (Lake Bunyonyi)

Morning Batwa pygmy community visit — a deeply moving insight into the Batwa's ancient forest culture, traditional medicine, and music. Then begin the drive northward.

Drive to Murchison Falls

Stay: Nile Safari Lodge

Long drive northward (approx. 7 hours, can be broken with a stop in Kampala) to Murchison Falls National Park — Uganda's largest protected area. Late afternoon game drive.

Murchison Falls — Nile Cruise & Game Drive

Morning game drive in the northern sector for giraffe, elephant, lion, and buffalo. Afternoon Nile boat cruise to the base of Murchison Falls — one of Uganda's finest experiences — past enormous hippo pods, basking Nile crocodile, and a spectacular waterfall.
