Overview

Eight days through Kenya's most iconic parks — the elephants of Amboseli against Kilimanjaro, and the legendary big cats of the Masai Mara.

This is the journey that defines the East African safari. Starting with the awe-inspiring elephants of Amboseli — photographed against the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro — you'll travel north to the legendary Masai Mara, Africa's finest big cat territory and stage for the Great Wildebeest Migration.

Staying in carefully selected camps and lodges, your days are spent with expert naturalist guides revealing the intricate stories of the bush — from the social dynamics of lion prides to the hunting strategies of cheetah. Evenings bring sundowners on the kopje and stargazing in Africa's vast sky.

Arrive Nairobi

Stay: Nairobi Serena Hotel

Welcome to Kenya. You will be met at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Nairobi. Enjoy a welcome briefing over dinner as your guide introduces the journey ahead.

Nairobi to Amboseli

Stay: Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge

An early start as we drive south through the Rift Valley escarpment to Amboseli National Park (approx. 4.5 hours). Afternoon game drive as the sun drops behind Kilimanjaro. Watch for elephant herds moving across the plains at dusk.

Full Day Amboseli

Stay: Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge

A full day in Amboseli with morning and afternoon game drives. Climb Observation Hill for a panoramic view across the swamps and plains, then spend hours tracking the park's famous large-tusked elephant families. Flamingos, zebra, giraffe, and buffalo complete the picture against the Kilimanjaro backdrop.

Amboseli to Masai Mara

Morning game drive before departing for the Masai Mara. We take the scenic route via the Rift Valley escarpment with spectacular views and a lunch stop in Narok before arriving in the Mara in the late afternoon. Game drive as we enter the reserve.

Full Day Masai Mara

A full day exploring the Mara's diverse ecosystems — the open plains of the Mara Triangle, the Mara River crossing points, the Sekenani Valley, and the thick riverine forest. Track lion prides, solitary leopard, cheetah mothers with cubs, and vast herds of resident wildlife. Optional sunrise balloon flight from the camp (additional cost).

Mara Morning & Cultural Visit

Sunrise game drive to catch predators active in the golden morning light. After breakfast, visit a traditional Maasai village for a guided introduction to Maasai culture, housing, and traditions. Afternoon at leisure at the lodge — swim, spa, or relax by the river.

Full Day Masai Mara

Stay: Mara Serena Safari Lodge

Your final full day in the Mara — head to the northern reaches of the reserve following the Migration herds (season dependent). Bush picnic lunch under an acacia tree. Sundowner in the bush as the day closes magnificently.

Masai Mara to Nairobi — Departure

Final sunrise game drive before packing up and flying by light aircraft back to Wilson Airport, Nairobi (approx. 45 minutes — scenic and thrilling). Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international departure.
