Park
Tarangire National Park is often overlooked in favour of its more famous neighbours, but those who include it are rewarded with some of Tanzania's most authentic game viewing. The Tarangire River is a lifeline during the dry season, drawing enormous concentrations of wildlife — including the largest elephant herds in northern Tanzania — against a backdrop of ancient, gnarled baobab trees.
The park is also exceptional for large herds of buffalo, diverse antelope species, and superb birding, with over 550 recorded species.
