Park
South Luangwa National Park is one of Africa's greatest wildlife sanctuaries — and the birthplace of the walking safari. The Luangwa River, which meanders through the heart of the park and regularly changes course to form oxbow lagoons, is the lifeblood of an extraordinary ecosystem.
The park is particularly famous for its leopard density — one of the highest in Africa — as well as large elephant herds, enormous hippo pods, and the endemic Thornicroft's giraffe, found only in the Luangwa Valley. Night drives reveal the nocturnal world: civets, genets, lion on kills, and leopard hunting under spotlight.
