Laikipia

Conservation-Driven Community Safaris

Laikipia Plateau is Kenya's finest example of community-based conservation — a mosaic of private ranches and conservancies supporting rhino, wild dog, and lion.

Type

Reserve

The Laikipia Plateau, stretching across Kenya's central highlands, is one of Africa's greatest conservation success stories. A mosaic of private ranches and Maasai community conservancies, Laikipia protects more black and white rhino than anywhere else in Kenya outside the Aberdares, as well as Africa's second-largest population of wild dog.

Activities here go beyond the vehicle game drive — walking safaris, horseback safaris, camel-back expeditions, and community engagement bring a distinctly intimate dimension to the safari experience.
